How is honey made?

Bees collect nectar from flowers and transport it in their honey stomachs. Enzymes and water removal turn this into the thick honey that we know and love. It is then stored in honeycombs and sealed by the bees.

Honey varieties and their characteristics

Honey comes in many variations – depending on which plants the bees collect the nectar from.

• Acacia honey – very mild, almost transparent, stays liquid for a long time.
• Chestnut honey – strong, slightly tart, with intense aromas.
• Linden honey – slightly minty, refreshing and especially delicious in tea.
• Forest honey – spicy, darker in color, made from honeydew instead of nectar.
